FIRMAN ALEXANDER & PERNICIA ALLEN SMITH

Original Photos are posession of Eura Oakley

Pernicia Eura Allen was born January 16,  1840, in Caldwell County, Kentucky, youngest child of English immigrant Charles Allen & Georgia native Elizabeth Russell. They came to Trigg circa 1850, with widowed mother Elizabeth and siblings Mary, (James H. McConnell) John, (Rebecca McWaters) Elizabeth, (Perry Peal) William (Iowa Peal) & James. Sometime before March 1864, she married  Firman Alexander Smith. A mild assumption based on birth of their eldest child in Dec of 1864. (Note: there is a Firman A. Smith marriage record in Trigg Co, and some assume this to be them, but there are problems from the abstract. It gives a marriage date of 1869, AND shows the bride to be a Sarah F. Peal. I've not yet checked the actual record at CH)
Initially they settled in Rockcastle Precinct, moved in the LBR before 1880, & went on to have a family of nine known children. Their homestead was at the NW corner of Energy Lake. Firman Alexander Smith b. 13 June 1834, the youngest of 8 known children of Hardy Smith & Eleanor Treadway. Pernicia passed on March 18  1908 and Firman on  February 16, 1918. Both are at rest at Oakley Cemetery near Ferguson Springs in the LBR.
