BEMBRAY CEMETERY
Lyon County, KY

Benjamin Bembray moved to the Crab Creek area of between the rivers from North Carolina sometime before 1830. He acquired 2,000 acres of land and had several slaves. His home, built from bricks made on the site, once stood a short distance from the family graveyard.

No burials had taken place in the cemetery for more than 75 years prior to the flooding of Lake Barkley in 1965. At that time, the Corps of Engineers moved some graves, including those of Bembray and his wife, to nearby Sardis Cemetery.
